Bloody Good Builders - home

Questions, answered

Straight answers, including the awkward one about why we charge. If yours isn't here, give us a hoy.

For people needing work done

Why do I have to pay $25 just to get quotes?

Because a quote isn't free to produce. A builder reads your brief, works out what's involved, often drives out to have a look, then spends an evening pricing it. That's hours off the tools - hours they don't get paid for, on jobs that mostly go nowhere.

The $25 isn't us making money on quotes. It's a signal. It says you're serious enough to put something behind it, which is exactly why our builders actually answer. Free enquiry forms get buried under people who were half-curious on a Sunday, and the good builders stopped replying to those years ago.

You're paying to be taken seriously - and to skip the queue of people who aren't.

What if you can't help me?

Then you get your $25 back, in full, automatically. No form, no arguing, no waiting on hold.

If we read your brief and can't put it in front of builders - wrong area, scope we can't match, not enough to go on - we refund you and tell you why. We're not interested in keeping money for a job we couldn't do anything with.

How many builders will contact me?

Up to three. Never more.

Most sites blast your details to everyone who'll pay for them, and then your phone doesn't stop for a fortnight. Three is enough to compare properly and few enough that each one takes you seriously - because they know they're not one of twenty.

Is the $25 a deposit? Does it come off the job?

No. It's a one-off fee for the introduction, and it's the only thing you'll ever pay us. What you agree with a builder is between you and them - we don't take a cut of the work, and we never will.

I don't know my budget yet. Should I still submit?

Yes. Pick the band that feels closest - you're not locked in and no builder will hold you to it.

We only push back when a budget and a job clearly don't add up. If you tell us you want a new house for $40k, we'll say so before you pay rather than take your money and let three builders break the news.

Why do you ask whether I have plans and finance sorted?

Because it changes what a builder can do for you, and because it's what they'd ask on the first call anyway.

There are no wrong answers here. "No plans, haven't spoken to a bank" is a perfectly good place to start - it just means we look for a builder who's happy to help from that point. Being straight with us gets you a better match, not a worse one.

Do you sell my details?

No. Your name, email and phone stay with us until a builder takes your job on, and only then do they see it - up to three, and nobody else. Not advertisers, not other trades, not ever.

For builders

What does membership cost?

$150 a month, including GST. First month is free with five leads to try, and there's nothing to pay while you're trialling.

What makes these leads different?

Every one has paid to be there and been read by a person before it reaches you. You see the budget band, the timeline, whether they've got plans drawn, whether the money's arranged, and whether the person you'd be talking to can actually say yes.

You also see a score - ours, for you specifically, based on your trades and your patch - and what went into it. If a lead is thin, we'll tell you it's thin.

How many builders get the same lead?

Three, maximum. You're quoting against two others, not fifteen. When three spots are taken the lead comes off the board.

Do you take a percentage of the job?

No. Membership is the whole deal - no commission, no success fee, no cut of what you sign. What you quote and what you get paid is your business.

Do I get charged per lead on top?

No. Membership covers the feed, and there's a fair-use cap so nobody hoovers up every lead in the state. If you're anywhere near it we'll have a conversation, not a bill.

How do you vet builders?

Licence, ABN, insurance, some history, and a chat. It's not a formality - it's the reason a client is willing to pay to be here at all. If we let anyone in, the whole thing is worth nothing to either side.
